1. In order to compress a video file, you will need to install a compatible software.  HandBrake is a useful open-source(free) video software that will work.  https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php
  2.  Once you download the proper version for your system, install it to your computer.  It should also create a shortcut on your desktop that you can easily launch the program with.

  3. Once you have HandBrake open, click “Source” in the top left corner to select the video that you want to compress.

  4. After selecting the video file, input a destination and give the file a name.  Make sure that the “Output Settings” are “MP4” and under the “Video Tab” the “Video Codec” is set to “H.264 (x264)”

  5. On the right hand side of the application make sure that you select Presets > Devices > Universal.

  6. Once all the settings are confirmed to be correct, press “Start” at the top of the window.

  7. Once this is completed the compressed file will be in the folder you told it to save to.  Open the video and test that it works.
