The Media Server can be accessed directly from University-managed Macs and PCs, and it can be accessed via a web browser on personal computers.

Mount the Media Server and open files

  1. Click Media Server in the Dock.
  2. After a few seconds, the Media Server will be mounted on the desktop, and a list of file shares will appear.
  3. Double-click a file share to view its contents. The share will take a few seconds to load, and it is fully loaded when the folder icon changes to a drive icon, as seen in the picture below.
  4. Files can be opened and edited from the file share.

Save files

  1. Make sure the Media Server is already mounted, per the previous instructions.
  2. In a Save As dialog, click the triangle to expand the dialog, as seen in the picture below.
  3. Click the drop-down menu to choose an alternate Save Location.
  4. Choose the computer name. In the example below, the computer name is CFA-108-15.
  5. Click Media Server.
  6. Choose the final Save Location. Note that it might take a few seconds for the file shares under Media Server to load if they have not already been loaded.

Windows

Browse to Media Server and open files

  1. Open File Explorer from the Start menu.
  2. Click This PC on the left-hand sidebar, and open Files (\\mobap.edu) (K:).
  3. Locate and open Media Server, and a list of file shares will appear.
  4. Double-click a file share to view its contents.
  5. Files can be opened and edited from the file share.

Personal computer access

These instructions also work with University-managed computers.

  1. Navigate to https://media.mobap.edu in a web browser.
  2. Log in using your network username and password.
  3. Files can be uploaded and downloaded via the web interface.
